Trade Deadline and Buyouts Edition (7 Days of NBA)

Image
One of the most interesting times of the season is the trade deadline and buyout season. Teams decide whether to blow up their roster and restart, retool to get better, or add that last piece they might need to make a push for the championship. This year, we saw all three, so let's jump into what went down. 1. Trade Deadline: Adding the Missing Pieces This year's deadline saw several teams adding what they may think is the last piece that they need to try to win the finals. One of the biggest moves was Victor Oladipo to Miami, which adds a great backcourt piece to the Heat. Miami could use more depth and a shot creator off of their bench, and Oladipo provides exactly that. The Rockets got back Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk and the option to swap picks. One of the biggest pieces the Rockets got back in their Harden trade was Oladipo, and to get back that disappointing of a return should make any Rockets fan unhappy. I think the Heat easily won the trade, and the Rockets further pr

Hi everybody and welcome back to 7 Days of NBA. After a week of the All-Star break and a week of March Madness, I am back with my usual NBA content. This week, we saw two huge injuries, rumors swirling about the trade deadline, and a battle that is the East playoff picture. Let's jump into takeaways. Major Takeaways: 1. Who can Survive the Injuries? Injuries are becoming more and more of an issue as we fight through the second half of the season. The biggest injury as of recent was LeBron James, who was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain after landing awkwardly in a game against the Atlanta Hawks. This leaves the Lakers without LeBron and Anthony Davis for at least the next 1-2 weeks, which could hurt their spot in the West come time for the playoffs. The Lakers have been careful with Davis and his return, which is the smart move to make considering the possibility of a re-injury. LeBron will take the time he needs to come back, but the big question is if the rest of the team and c

March Madness Edition (7 Days of NBA)

Hey everyone! This week I decided to change it up since it was a relatively slow week for the NBA and talk about the big basketball event that is about to start: March Madness. Many of our favorite NBA stars played in the tourney, and no matter how big or small of a college fan you here, it seems like everyone makes a bracket. I'm gonna show my sleeper picks, the top players (that we'll most likely see in the NBA next year), and reveal my completed bracket and who I think will win this year. Sleepers: 1. Texas Tech My big sleeper pick this year is Texas Tech, who are a 6 seed in the South. Tech is led by transfer guard Mac McClung, who averages 15.7 points per game and looks to be a prospect for the NBA. He is a legit scorer who can create his own bucket and lead the offense. Including McClung, Texas Tech has 4 guards who average at least 10 PPG, which shows their depth at guard and the ability for the bench to come in and score. Marcus Santos-Silva is their big man, which is u

Welcome back to 7 Days of NBA! This week will be shorter than usual, due to the fact that barely any games actually happened this week, therefore there won't be an MVP or a team of the week. However, I do have some takeaways from the All-Star Weekend and one big move that has happened. Let's jump into this shortened week's major takeaways. Major Takeaways 1. The All-Star Weekend was Forgettable I'm as big of a fan of All-Star weekend as anyone, but this year's one-night-only edition just did not feel like other seasons. I will say, it is hard to live up to the amazing game that we had last year with the close finish. I love the Kobe Bryant rule that they added, and I think in most years it will create a 4th quarter where the teams treat it like it is an actual game. Unfortunately, this year's game was a blowout and didn't give us the competition at the end that we all hoped for. Curry and Dame put on a great show from deep, hitting insane shots that made me

Welcome back to 7 Days of NBA! This week we had a coach fired, issues surrounding the 3-point and dunk contest, and a team that may be finally breaking out of their slump. Let's talk about the major takeaways. Major Takeaways 1. Some Teams Need to Blow it Up This week opened my eyes to some teams that just simply aren't playing up to the level that their players should be, and I think it would be best to blow up the roster and restart. These teams have good players, but the team as a entirety is just not going to get the job done.  1. Atlanta Hawks The first one would be the Atlanta Hawks. I'll be honest, I thought the new Hawks were going to work and be able to compete for the playoffs. They brought in Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, Rajon Rondo and drafted Onyeka Okongwu and I thought this was a great group to help Trae Young, John Collins and Clint Capela. Once you add in young guys like De'Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter, this team looks great on th
